THE IMPORTANCE OF OLD PHOTOGRAPHS
Why keep them?
Photographs are an important part of our social history. They are snap shots in time that give us a true picture of the past, and reality to both oral and written history.
Photographs can often be dated by their content. They show people in the dress of the day, buildings, transport, leisure and working practices, among many other things. Look carefully and you will be surprised at how much is revealed about the past of our own village.
What to do with them?
Photographs form part of local history records. If you have no use for them, they can be donated to our village history club. If you do want to keep your photographs, then modern technology makes it very quick and easy, if you allow us to make copies to add to our collection.
