The global reach of your community website for the parish, www.coddenham-parish.uk is already well established, with many contacts from around the world, as well as here in Suffolk.
With over 4000 ‘hits’ to date, the site despite its infancy, enjoys lots of interest across its entire, varied content.
One of the most popular has been the Coddenham History Club site and its dual role of starting to digitise the wealth of material compiled by members, over the years.
This, along with that for one of our local charities and fellow CCRG member, the Gardemau Trust, has recently caught the eye of academics in the USA, where the distinguished Amherst College in Massachusetts & the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington D.C. were delighted to find information about one Balthazar Gardemau. He is one of Coddenham’ oldest benefactors and husband of the original subject of their research, Lady Catherine.
Anna Smith of Amherst College wrote and said ‘ Thank you for your wonderful work on the history of the Coddenham Parish. I have learned a great deal about Gardemau’s life and work through your efforts.’

Coddenham History Club Chairman Ray Collins and Village Historian, John Pelling are now in correspondence with Anna, with the view to sharing further information and research, including a book of Catherine’s recipes the faculty have been researching, which can also be found Here.

The website is fantastic and especially the History section. Given the new film about the Sutton Hoo dig on Netflix, I’d really love an article about our rich Anglo-Saxon connections with the period, the bed burial at Shrubland quarry and the high status settlement at Vicarage Farm!
