I’ve looked at a lot of churchyard floras recently and this is certainly one of the finest. It would certainly get into my ‘100 best churchyards’ for its flora. Its not just the diversity of species, its the fact that the entire churchyard is managed for its floral display, not just a neat plot on the margins. The calcareous grassland it incorporates seems to be fairly uncommon in churchyards nationally. If anyone has a complete plant list, I’d be interested to see it.

I’m a patron of Caring for God’s Acre. I’m also helping write a New Naturalist book on churchyard natural history.
