On the 27th November between 9am and 12pm, we’ll be inviting the community to help us plant some 150 metres of replacement and new hedging plus trees, in and around The Coddenham Centre.

Its part of the Coddenham Centre’s Carbon Charter and biodiversity strategy to support the community, with the help of Mid Suffolk District Council, Suffolk County Council and the Woodland Trust. Please come along anytime from 9am, if possible bringing your own spade, (if you haven’t got one, you can still help).

In addition, to mark the Centenary this month of the donation of the recreation ground by the DeSaumarez family, we’ll be planting at 11am a commemorative oak, kindly donated by the present Lord DeSaumarez.

Lord De Saumarez will not be travelling from Guernsey to Coddenham for COVID and environmental reasons, so the planting will be conducted by senior and junior representatives of the community. Photographs will be taken to mark the occasion.

Afterwards, there will be free mulled wine, soft drinks, tea and coffee at the Centre for all joining in.

Do please come along at any time, for as long as you can spare, to mark the one hundredth birthday of the Coddenham Recreation Ground and to support our local efforts in helping the future of the planet!
